A Perfect Day of Eating in Laguna Beach, California: My Favorite Restaurants and What They Have to Offer

As I continue to write my foodie blogs about places around the globe, it is fair to share where my love started: Laguna Beach, California. Growing up in Laguna Beach is not only known for its stunning coastal views and artistic community but also its exceptional dining scene. Whether you’re seeking fresh Mexican, farm-to-table hamburgers, or internationally-inspired dishes, this beach town has something for every type of foodie. Here’s how I, and now you, can spend a perfect day eating through some of Laguna Beach’s best restaurants enjoying the flavors of the California coast.

Morning: Start Your Day at Sapphire Pantry

No visit to Laguna Beach is complete without a stop at Sapphire Pantry, my former place of employment, to fuel up for the day. This charming café offers an organic-focused menu that draws locals and visitors alike. Start with their signature Matcha Latte—a light and creamy tea drink with a subtle hint of sweetness, perfect for a mellow caffeine fix. If you’re feeling indulgent, pair it with their breakfast tacos, a favorite topped with fresh tomatoes, micro greens, and perfectly scrambled eggs. For something heartier, the Breakfast Burrito is a popular choice – and my favorite– packed with scrambled eggs, bacon, avocado, cheese, and salsa, wrapped in a flour tortilla. The Pantry’s emphasis on high-quality, organic ingredients makes it the ideal place to kickstart your culinary adventure in Laguna Beach.

Lunch: Savor Mexican at South of Nicks Laguna Beach

After a morning spent strolling the beach or exploring Laguna’s local shops, head to South of Nicks Laguna Beach for a lunch that will leave you truly satisfied. Along with an amazing ocean view, this restaurant has an amazing Spanish feel.

Start your meal with perfectly salted chips and salsa, shrimp taquitos, and a classic margarita if you’re of age. For the main course, the seafood enchiladas are a must-try. Served with black beans and Spanish-style rice, these lobster and shrimp-packed enchiladas will leave you wanting more. The butter cake will satisfy all cravings if you’re in the mood for something sweet.

Dinner: Farm-to-Table Excellence at Ahba

Head to Ahba Laguna Beach, one of Laguna Beach’s laid-back farm-to-table restaurants for dinner under the stars. Right on Pacific Coast Highway, the aesthetically pleasing Ahbas patio sits. This restaurant is perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. The menu is small, but boy is it mighty. The best Smashburger Laguna comes with perfectly salted skinny fries. If you want something with more greens, the Caesar salad is light but hearty. Suppose you’re in the mood for something heartier. Ahba is the perfect location to unwind and chat with friends without feeling like you are in a high-scale restaurant.

An Evening Nightcap along the Coast

After a long day of exploring and indulging, walking along the beach is a perfect way to digest. With lookout spots like Brooks Street and Main Beach boardwalk, anyone can settle down and listen to the waves crash. Laguna Beach is more than just a home; it’s where relationships form and inspiration takes flight.
